While I did not list the 2004 albums by Elvis Costello or R.E.M. in my top 10, I did buy them, like them, and play them repeatedly, but they have received plenty of attention elsewhere, as did Loretta Lynn's album with Jack White, and perhaps the most lush CD of 2004, Jane Monheit's _Take a Chance on Love_.
