  • Icy Demons - "Fight Back" (What tha' ...WOW!)
  • The Futureheads - "The Futureheads" (Danger! Water! YES!)
Other Honorable Mentions:

Deerhoof-Milk Moon (They sound like Japanamated Art Bears, punking up the Green Acers theme song. Great!)

Elctralane-The Power Cut ( If for no other reason than the song “The Valley”, get it. It sounds like a grim, atheistic Godspell song.)

The Faint- Wet From Birth (Even though I don’t like when they get too Depech Mode & they do, don’t deny it.)

Fiery Furnaces-Blueberry Boat ( You know how an LP can grow on you? this had the opposite effect. It’s a great LP on first listen! It’s really good the second time. The 3rd time you start skipping tracks & I promise, there will not be a 4th listen! Still worth hearing the 1st time though.)

The Futureheads (A flux of one hit 80's bands come to mind, but they improved on the recipe so hats off to these chaps.)

Interpol- Antics ( This is good batch of songs, I don’t care if it’s not a great album. Joy Division may be their parent band but I like them better than their parents.)

One word to describe 2004: Stooge-arific

A prediction for next year: Mercury Rev, Midlake, Grandaddy, Polyphonic Spree & that ilk will pay the price for doing to the Flaming Lips what Creed did to Pearl Jam.... I hope!
